Research Center (think tank)

We initiate and conduct research that forms the basis for developing gender policies.
These policies:
— account for the context and specifics of issues at various levels: state, business, and personal;
— are developed based on expert opinion and best practices;
— are offered to state authorities that require ready-made solutions for implementation.
Research and educational project “Gender Mainstreaming in the Context of Comprehensive Defence”
The full-scale war has posed not only military but also profound social challenges for Ukraine. Victory requires reforms that recognize and mobilize the potential of the entire society.
Within this project, we combined a gender approach with the concept of comprehensive defence—an approach in which national security is not solely the responsibility of the armed forces, but also of the state, local communities, businesses, and citizens.
Twenty-one researchers joined forces in seven research teams to analyze key areas that shape societal resilience during wartime. The project resulted in eight analytical reports containing practical recommendations for policies, reforms, and public programs.
Main research areas:
1) economic transformations
2) care work during wartime
3) women in the military
4) women in civil defence
5) local self-government and public administration
6) inclusive information policy
7) volunteer movement
The research offers concrete solutions that can strengthen the resilience of Ukrainian society and contribute to building a comprehensive defence system in which everyone plays a role.
“Local feminist perspectives as transformation levers for sustainable development in Ukraine in the context of ongoing defence"
The study examines the influence of feminist movements on policies of gender equality, social inclusion, and defence in Ukraine in the context of Russian aggression. It shows how feminist initiatives contribute to the development of gender-responsive defence, the protection of the rights of women and LGBT+ people, and the formation of inclusive approaches to the country’s recovery.
The analysis covers the period from 2014 to 2024 and explores both the barriers and the opportunities for strengthening feminist policy during the war and in the post-war period.
